Jeff James is a theatre director, writer and dramaturg. Originally from Leeds, he is now based in London. 

He has directed plays at the Young Vic, Nottingham Playhouse, Manchester Royal Exchange, Rose Theatre Kingston and the Yard.

His writing includes an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion (with James Yeatman) and Stink Foot, a new version of Philoctetes by Sophocles.

He was associate director on Ivo van Hove's English language productions from 2014-2017, including A View from the Bridge, Hedda GablerLazarus, and The Crucible.
