Jeff James is a theatre director, writer and dramaturg. Originally from Leeds, he is now based in London. 

He has directed plays at the Young Vic, Nottingham Playhouse, Manchester Royal Exchange, Rose Theatre Kingston and the Dailes Theatre, Riga.

Jeff’s writing includes adaptations of Jane Austen’s Persuasion and Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale

As dramaturg, he frequently collaborates with the choreographers Jess and Morgs, including on the award-winning Coppélia for Scottish Ballet.

He has been associate director on seven of Ivo van Hove's productions, including the Tony and Olivier award-winning A View from the Bridge
